A Recommendation: What is the What?
When I had originally posted this photo, I was in the middle of reading, "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" and had yet to read, "What is the What." I'll be honest, it took me quite a WHILE to get through the first one. Many people raved about this book, but I wasn't sure if it was the style of writing or the story that made it hard for me to get through. Nevertheless, once I finished it I began, "What is the What." It's based on the life of Valentino Achak Deng. It's the story of his life-the story of the Lost Boys who were forced to leave Sudan at a young age and walk hundreds of miles, through 3 different countries to escape being killed by the militia, government bombers, animals even! Many died along the way due to famine and disease and some miraculously made it alive. It is a truly poignant story, one that I can't seem to get out of my mind. I highly encourage everyone to read this. To be informed on what has and is happening in Sudan.

Can't think of a good title
Where have I been, right? Hmm let's see. San Francisco has been gloomy and rainy (no surprise there). My thoughts have repeatedly fallen on moving back to Southern California, but I can't really. Especially now that I committed to a ONE YEAR gym membership. Yup, I joined the gym last Wednesday, and in order to get the deal I had to commit to one year. It felt so...final. When I first moved up here, and for a while after that my time in San Francisco never really felt permanent. And now that I have a new job AND a gym membership, it's like, wow-guess I really am staying after all. That being said, I have been thinking about the future. I can only handle so much of this fickle weather. Where will the future lead? Only time will tell. But...let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's time to get in shape! P.S. This post has no relevance to the photos below: Lunch time at Green Chile Kitchen. Those beans were so good!
